Former Amsterdam marathon champion Valentine Kipketer will be facing with reigning Paris marathon champion Betsy Saina in Sunday’s Frankfurt marathon.
Kipketer who was in the 2013 world championships marathon team for said she has been training well ahead of the championships with a clash of titans on the course.
Speaking after finishing 6th at the Chemususu half marathon in September, Kipketer was optimistic of winning Frankfurt.
“I have been training well and going to Frankfurt will be good for me,” said the former Berlin half marathon champion.
The pin-sized runner dropped out during the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Moscow but went ahead to lift the Amsterdam title in 2:23.02 with her personal best in the 42km distance.
The same year, she won Mumbai marathon timing 2:24.33. which was then her personal best.
“I will be running Frankfurt for the first time and I want to leave a mark there,” added the former Lille half marathon champion.
She will be facing off with reigning Paris marathon champion Betsy Saina, Nancy Kiprop (2:24:18), Janet Rono (2:26:03) and Sylvia Medugu (2:29:09) for the title.
