Victory for John Lejirma at Windsor Classic

Team Kenya captain John Lejirma fired a total of three under par 213 to win the Windsor Classic, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series at the par 72 Windsor Golf Club today.

The Kenya Railways golfer edged out defending champion Elvis Muigua from Kiambu who managed to finish second on one under par 215, better than last year’s +4 220.

The tournament that teed off on Friday March 7th to today’s 9th attracted a total of 146 top amateur golfers from Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda for a thrilling 54-hole Stroke play Championship with six women players led by Naomi Wafula, Kellie Gachaga, Margeret Njoki, Bianca Ngecu, and Diana Mbuba.

In the opening round on Friday, Lejirma sunk three over 75 before recovering in the second round on Saturday to fire five under 67 in a highly competitive field, that determining the top 33 players, along with ties, that made it to today’s final where he managed one under par 71 to win.
