Leaders Vihiga Queens earned three points away to relegated side Eldoret Falcons in the Kenya Women premier League (KWPL) that was to be played at the Eldoret ASK Showground.
The KWPL champions head coach Alex Alumira said the points are important as they sealed top position in Zone B ahead of national play-offs.
With their focus to retain their title, Alumira said they wanted to test his players after a long time without playing when President Uhuru Kenyatta suspended all sporting activities in the country due to the coronavirus upsurge.
“This was a bad idea for the hosts to give points easily. I really wanted to test my players in this first game after football resumption. It was an opportunity for both players and the technical bench to understand the playing units,” said Alumira.
Next they face Nakuru West at Bukhungu stadium, play Kisumu Starlets at Moi stadium in Kisumu and complete the league with Trans Nzoia Falcons back home.
In other matches, Gaspo Women edged Kibera Soccer Ladies 3-1 at Stima Members Club in Zone A and Wadadia registered 2-1 against visiting Oserian Ladies 2-1 at the Mumias Complex in Zone B.
