Kenyan rugby players Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba have been jailed for 15 years each after thyey were found guilty for gang-raping.
Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku sentenced the duo on Friday, one week after finding them guilty in Milimani. They have 14 days to lodge an appeal through their lawyers.
“The Court said looking at all evidence and mitigation, a custodial sentence would be appropriate.”
Wanyama and Olaba were accused of raping a woman at Highrise Estate, Seefar Towers, Nairobi in February 2018 on her birthday.
This brings to an end 15 months of trial.
Wanyama and Olaba have represented the Kenya 7s rugby team in the World Sevens Series
