Wanyama part ways with Leopard Cat

Former Kariobangi Sharks winger Enock Wanyama has parted ways with Taiwan club, Leopard Cat after just nine months with the side.

Leopards Cat FC is a Taipei-based club that competes in the Taiwan Premier League.

Wanyama who has also been part of the national under-20 team joined the club last year after impressing during the trials and in turn penned a two-year deal.

He took to his X, formerly Twitter account to announce his departure from the club as well as thanking the team for the nine months of great memories.

“Thank you Taiwan Leopards FC. Nine good months filled with great memories. I’m glad to be part of the success of the team finishing second,” he stated.

The club which has had eight seasons in the top-flight league have bagged the league title three times.

Last season they came second with 41 points behind eventual winner and record champions Tainan City FC who garnered 52 points.

The 22-year-old was previously linked with a move to record Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia before his move to Taiwan but the deal did not fall through

His move to Taiwan was in a bid to flourish and ultimately get scouted by European clubs after his first bid flopped while trying to impress to be able to play for Slovakian top-tier side FK Pohronie in 2021.

Wanyama further went on to encourage the team to keep the same fighting spirit when the season resumes in April.

 “Objectives were reached and I hope the same fighting spirit continues with you this 2024 season when you resume in April,” he added.
