Fresh from winning the world 800m title, former world under 20 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi wrapped up the Diamond League season, running the world leading time at the Prefontaine Classic, the last meeting of Diamond League series in Oregon, the USA.
He defeated the world 800m champion Marco Arop to win in new personal best 1:42.80 with Arop settling for second at 1:42.85 with the 2022 World 800m silver medallist, Djamel Sedjati from Algeria coming third at 1:43.06.
Two time Commonwealth Games 800m champion Wycliffe Kinyamal finished a distant ninth in 1:46.33 which is his slowest time ever.
