Was Athletics Kenya cut off from First Lady Half Marathon?

Top Athletics Kenya (A.K) officials missed yesterday’s launch of First Lady Half marathon at State House Nairobi, posing the question-Was Athletics Kenya Cut off?

The race, which returns after two years, was launched on Tuesday to mark its fourth into existence as the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, seeks to improve mother healthcare through Beyond Zero Campaign.

Mrs. Kenyatta was accompanied by Ida Odinga the wife to the former prime minister, Raila Odinga, Rachel Ruto the wife to Deputy President William Ruto, various stake holders, sponsors and local celebrities.

Senior officials confided the allegations to that the federations was not aware of the event as top officials were not part of the launch putting many questions if the race has been sanctioned by the athletics federation.

“If the wont be competitive then we have little faith but if there will be prize is attached to it, and then something is not fine,” alleged the official on anonymity.

“The A.K officials missing at the event signals bad intentions. We don’t know if the race will be competitive or a mere show-off,” said the official.

Dailysport seek clarification from A.K Chief Executive Officer Susan Kamau if in deed the federation was invited, she said: “I was not in the office yesterday (Tuesday) let me confirm and I will get back to you in 15 minutes,” promised Susan until time of press, she had not confirmed. We are still waiting her confirmation.
