The National government will establish a 25,000 seater modern Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground into a world class facility.
On Thursday, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed said they will be partnering with the Kisumu county government to build the facility.
Amina said President Uhuru sent her to check and build an ultra-modern sports facility that can accommodate various sporting activities.
“We are focused on the directive of the President and very soon the project will start,” Amina said.
She said the government wants to ensure the stadiums are readily available for use by sportsmen and women in the country.
Amina announced that the construction of other stadiums is on course in Meru and Kiambu among other counties.
Accompanied by her host Governor Anyang Nyong’o said President Uhuru, in particular, wants the football pitch at sports ground renovated to a higher standard.
