Wenwa Akinyi has taken an early lead at the 5th and final Scrabble Kenya tournament in Nairobi today ahead of tomorrow’s final day.
With players preparing for the World English Scrabble Players Association Championships (WESPAC) in Goa, India, Akinyi played a spread of +488, winning 2 out of 10 encounters.
With 108 players turning up for the tournament, Akinyi rated 21 took the lead in the premier division by a point ahead of second seed Allan Oyende (+747) to second and Martins Mutahi (574) in third on inferior spread ahead of Michael Gongolo (+448).
In the intermediate, Stima Club dominated the field with Eliud Lell leading Limo Kipkemoi and Simon Midigo by a point
