Fresh from representing the country at the concluded World English Scrabble Players Association Championships (WESPAC) in Goa, India, top players will be converging to Eldoret for Scrabble Kenya national tournament this weekend.
The event will bring together top players like Allan Oyende, Gitonga Nderitu, Patrick Litonya, Brenard Koyyoko as well as chairman Bernard Amuke in a tournament that starts on 9th to 10th November.
Amuke said that given the proximity to the border, players from the other side of the Migingo are also expected to play.
“I am very excited about this Eldoret tournament. It will provide the youth a chance to practice for the Youth Cup to be held in Malaysia later this month” said Amuke, the Scrabble Kenya chairman.
18 games will be played over the 2 days in the Intermediate and Premier divisions while 16 games will be played in the Open.
John Sang , who is the host of this tournament had this to say “I take this opportunity to welcome you all to the lovely Town of Eldoret. May the Q be with U”
The tournament is part of the selection events for team Kenya to ECASA and PANASA.
