Western Prison volleyball players hurt in an accident

Kenya Volleyball Federation has postponed matches involving Western Prisons men volleyball team after they were involve in a road accident on Friday evening.

The team, which was heading to Lakipia for the second leg of KVF league, were involved in an accident along Ngareng’iro area along Kiawara road in Laikipia County.

The vehicle which had 18 players on board heading to Nanyuki from Bungoma for their KVF league matches, reportedly lost control while negotiating a sharp corner largely filled with loose chippings before landing into a trench.

The accident left six players seriously injured and 12 others with minor injuries. They are currently receiving treatment in different hospitals in Laikipia.

According to the fixtures, the Western-based warders were scheduled to face Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and Prisons Mombasa in Nanyuki Stadium but the matches have since been cancelled.
