With Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala out of Africa Senior Athletics championships, Kenya’s Mark Otieno Odhiambo will lead the country at the championships set for June 21st to 26th in Duala, Cameroon.
Otieno who is among 50 athletes named in the team by Athletics Kenya yesterday, will spearhead the nation in the 100m where the national title is in the hands of Omanyala who won in 2022 when the championships were staged in Reduit, Mauritius.
The federation picked 26 female and 33 male athletes with Otieno joining with Meshack Babu in the 100m title chase.
In the women 100m, Esther Mbagari will be competing in both 100m and 200m and will marshall forces with Monica Safania and Eunice Kadogo.
The team will be led by Mr. Stephen Mugea Etyang, chairman AK NPS and head coach Mr. Julius Kirwa and will report to a residential training camp on Thursday, June 13.
