Kenya’s Men and Women Roll Ball national teams made emphatic statements as they opened their 7th Roll Ball World Cup campaigns in dominant fashion, underlining their status as defending world champions in Dubai.
The Kenya Men’s team launched their title defense with a resounding 18–0 victory over Poland in the tournament opener, delivering a disciplined and clinical performance that set the tone for the championship. The women followed suit with an equally commanding 16–0 win against Argentina, signaling their intent to retain the world crown.
Men’s debutant Chrispine Ogeto, who delivered an outstanding performance in his first appearance at the World Cup, credited the emphatic win to thorough preparation and strong team cohesion.
“The preparation we had was very good, and the teamwork on the court made the difference. Everyone understood their role, and that showed in the result,” said Ogeto.
On the women’s side, Assistant Captain Judy Cheptoo expressed satisfaction with the team’s execution, highlighting teamwork and speed as key factors behind the victory over Argentina.
“We moved the ball well, played for each other, and kept a high tempo throughout the game. It was a good start, but we know there is more work ahead,” Jeptoo noted.
Head Coach Martin Abunde welcomed the strong opening results but urged caution as the tournament progresses, emphasizing the need for continuous improvement.
“The wins reflect the level of preparation we’ve had, but the competition will get tougher with every match. We must stay focused, improve game by game, and remain disciplined,” Abunde said.
With both teams off to flying starts, Team Kenya has once again announced its presence at the world stage.
