With Lejirma out, a new champion will be crowned at Nandi Shield Open

In absence of John Lejirma, a new champion will be unveiled at this weekend’s Nandi Bears Open Shield, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series set to take place from October 4th to 6th at the par 72 Nandi Bears Golf Club.

Lejirma, the two time title winner of the tournament both 2022 and 2023 will be missing the tournament as he is on assignment with kenya Team at the Africa Region IV golf tournament in Kigali Rwanda to defend the title won last year in Ethiopia.

According to the draw, the third edition of the tournament has attracted 74 talented amateur players from across the region.

The tournament will feature a competitive field, with notable players to watch including home players Nelson Koech, Elly Barno, Ebill Omollo from Vet Lab Sports Club, and Daniel Kiragu from Muthaiga Golf Club.

As captain for Kenya team, Lejirma from kenya Railways is accompanied by top amateurs led by Michael Karanga from Kiambu, Elvis Muigua (Kiambu), and Adel Balala (Nyali).

The players are expected to share a prize Money set at Ksh. 400, 000, where the winner will walk away with Ksh. 92,500.
