Wiyeta, Ebwali, Kwanthanze on school games good start

Champions Wiyeta Girls and Highway High school dominated the opening day of Kenya National Secondary Schools Term Two Games kicked off in Nakuru on today.

The Trans nzoia based school, Wiyeta who have won the title seven times thrashed St John’s Kaloleni 10-0 while Nairobi’s Highway beat Bute 7-0.

In other boys’ matches, Serani beat Olbolsat 1-0 as Kisumu Day beat Serani 3-1, lost 2-0 to Rift Valley’s Kabarnet Boys.

Western’s Ebwali thrashed Mbooni 5-1 and a 7-0 win over Bute.

In girls’ Nyanza Kobala drew 1-1 against Western’s  Mwira with Itigo defeating Kibauni 3-0.

Boys’ basketball defending champions Laiser Hill beat Lukenya Academy 84-36 and Pioneer School 88-30.

In boys’ hockey, St Anthony’s edged Kisumu Day 2-0 in the tournament’s first game. However, Kisumu Day recovered from the loss to thrash Mangu High 5-0.

In the girls’ hockey, Nyamira, coached by Eliakim Obondo qualified to the quarters after recording wins in their two games played on Friday. They upset Trans Nzoia mixed 2-1 before beating Matuga

Volleyball champions Kwanthanze beat newcomers Mwitoti in straight sets of 25-12, 25-17, 25-21 as Soweto 3-0(25-15, 25-12, and 25-14) over Minnows.

In boys, Kesogon were 3-0 (25-5, 25-5, 25-6) over Karima while Western’s Namwela lost to Cheptil in 25-21, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-22.
