Zakayo and Kosgei to lead Kenyans at Cardiff Cross Challenge

Former world under 20 5,000m champion Edward Pingua Zakayo will face Ugandan duo Joel Ayeko and Rogers Kibet at the Cardiff Cross Challenge, the first world Athletics Cross Country opener tomorrow.

The former Commopnwealth Games 5,000m bronze medalist Zakayo will be returning into Cross country races and will be up against Ethiopia’s Gizealew Abeje Ayana, Chakib Lachgar, Emile Cairess among those in action.

Kenya’s Pamela Kosgei is among the athletes set to line up at Llandaff Fields.

Kosgei, sister of world marathon record-holder Brigid, won the Kenyan U18 cross country title earlier this year and more recently finished fifth in the 3000m steeplechase at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali.
