Zimbabwe’s Sables stun Kenya’s Chipu at Barthes Cup

Chipu, the Kenya under 20, for the second time lost Barthes Cup, the Africa Under 20 rugby 15s aside to champions Zimbabwe in a final match played at the Nyayo stadium.

The Curtis Olago coached side lost 28-7, which was also the world cup qualifiers that will be staged in Scotland.

Chipu only managed a try from Laban Kipsang who also converted his try in the first half in a match witnessed by Rugby Africa General Manager Azouz Aib and Treasurer Aaron Jani.

The Junior Sables have now wo back to back titles after whipping Cote d’Ivoire 55-0 in quarter-finals and Tunisia 60-6 in semi-finals.

Chipu defeated Uganda 44-20 in quarters and Namibia 24-13 in semi-finals.

Namibia won the third place play-off 25-20 against Tunisia in the sudden death play-off after a 20-20 draw.
