64 players make the cut into National Base Yetu pool championships final rounds

Six four players have made the cut into the final rounds of the ongoing national Base Yetu pool championships at the Eldoret’s Tamasha club.

According to Base Yetu Chief Executive Officer Nick Mararo, the national championships attracted over 500 players drawn from across the country to compete at the national championships.

Mararo said that they have had two days already of Base Yetu Mega championships and concert where they have the tournaments during the day and concerts in the evenings where some players were deaf and made the cut.

“We are now in the round of 64 for tomorrow and fortunately all the 64 plyers players are winners because our money pass include everybody in the 64 list going to be crowned as Eldoret code name so anybody from number 1-64 is already a winner,” said Mararo.

He added that anybody between positions 8-64 will get kshs 5,000 and from the event, they have a great success stories where big giants have been dethrown.

“Eldoret has talents and top players Like then Kenya one have not made the cut and that tells you that we have talents at the grassroots. And we need to grow the talents of these individuals. They are prepared and get ready for tomorrow’s encounter which is a do or die for them,” he said.

“Pool as a sport, we have a long term plan of five years that is why we did not have a one-off event after going round the country and we want to sustain it not only for the government. We are looking forward to working with the ministry of sports hand in hand to create awareness and expose this talents outside this country.”

“We want to affiliate with other countries because we have seen the Ugandans here and we are planning to have East Africa Open after top players from Uganda came to play in Kenya. And because this was only a Kenyan affair but we will be exposed to the EAC like DRC, Burundi, Tanzania, Somalia and South Sudan,” he said.
