Wiyeta, St. Anthony wins all at school games

St, Anthony’s Kitale and Wiyeta girls registered two wins in their campaign to retain the national title in the opening day of the Kenya National Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSA) at Hill School ground, Eldoret. 

The Trans Nzoia based schools, representing Rift Valley won in both Under 20 under 16 categories in boys and girls respectively.

In boys under 20, Kitale defeated Ringa Boys’ a reflector of Mashemeji derby between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards matches.

Kitale won 4-0 against Ringa in pool A match as former champions Kakamega beat Kathungi 4-1 in the same pool.

Eli Saenyi and James Kibande netted a brace for the champions watched by head teacher Victor Mukanda.

Saenyi opened the score on 12th minute before adding the second on 66th minute. With Kibande giving all assists, he was on target on 79th minute before sealing the victory on 92nd minute.

Suleiman Gudo opened the score for Kathungi on 15th against Kakamega but Kevin Machika levelized on 23rd minute followed as Joshua Otieno scored the lead on 35th minute.

On stoke of half time, Amos Liranda scored the 3rd and Dan Oloo scored the last on 51st minute.

Free scoring Wiyeta beat Matuu Memorial 11-0 in pool A match as former champions, returniong into the national championships after three years, Bishob Njenga girls beat new comers Kwale girls 3-1.

St. Antony beat Olsobi 2-1 as Riyabu from Nyanza  enjoyed their first match, winning 2-0 against St Cyprian boys in pool A match in the under 16 boys.

Goals from Evans Osarengo and Phillip orenge ensured that their dominance.

In other matches St Peter’s from Kakamenga beat Sabunley boys 4-1in pool A while Sega girls won 2-0 against Alliance from Central region in pool A.

Wiyeta also from Rift valley region beat 2017 finalists Olympic from Nairobi 5-1 in under 16 with Sarah Nanjala netting a brace Jacinta Karemana opened on 9th minute as Juliet Anyango scoring on 24th as Karemana added her second on 37th minute.

Anyango scored the fourth goal on 40th minute for a 4-0 Lead then Kareman.
