Athletics Kenya President Jack Tuwei has called on all the atheles set to compete at next month’s World Athletics Championships in Tokyo to uphold integrity, competing in clean sports free from doping.
Speaking in Eldoret while officially opening the training camp for middle and long distance runners at High Performance Training Centre (HAPTC) at the Kazi Mingi Farm owned by legendary Kipchoge Keino stadium, Tuwei said that it better to lose than engage in doping.
“Please athlestes let’s uphold integrity and compete clean, to avoid tarnishing Kenya’s reputation on the global stage. I want you to remain discipline, work hard to build a better legacy with a good name that will help you engage in future management after retirement,” said Tuwei.
Tuwei challenged the squad to maintain focus and discipline in training as they look to extend Kenya’s long-standing dominance on the world stage.
“You’re going to Tokyo to compete, and the facilities here will help you sharpen yourselves. It’s up to you to train and focus on the competition ahead because Kenya has always done well at the global championships.”
