Kahumbu, Kajwang, Salano, Watene to co-aptain team Kenya at Africa Aquatics Zone 3 Swimming Championship in Kasarani

Susan Kahumbu, Julian Kajwang, Leland Salano and Geoffrey Watene will captain the national Kenya Aquatics team ahead of Africa Aquatics Zone 3 Swimming Championship that will be staged at the Kasarani Aquatic Centre.

The four co-captains are among the record 73 swimmers selected by the federation ahead of the continental championships that will be staged between October 16th to 19th at the Kasarani Aquatic centre in Nairobi.

With over 15 nations set to compete at the championships, the event is expected to be graced by Africa Aquatics President Dr. Diop Mohammed where the competition will include juniors, seniors, and masters.

Kahunbu and kajwang will lead thw women side while Salano and Watene will co-captain the men’s team under head coach Gideon Kioko, tem manager is Winnie Warui, who will be assisted by Nasser Motha.

Kenya Aquatics has called upon fans to turn up in large numbers at Kasarani to cheer the home squad.

Swimming in Kenya has had its highs and lows, but the current resurgence is reigniting hope. With the Kasarani championship set to showcase both emerging talent and experienced stalwarts, many believe the nation is on the cusp of rediscovering the golden days once symbolized by the legendary Dunford brothers.

For Kenya, this championship is more than medals—it is about rekindling a culture, uniting generations, and propelling the sport back into the limelight.
