Eugene Wafula make history in his maiden Ruiru Open victory

Eugene Wafula recorded his maiden Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) victory at the 4th edition of Ruiru Edition played at the par 73 Ruiru Golf Club.

The Muthaiga based golfer fired a total of two under par 217 to claim the title during the three days of action in the amateur ranking event ahead of Magical Kenya Open 2027.

He ttok to the summit in the opening round on Friday with -3 70 where he maintained 7 birdies, similar pars with a bogey and a double bogey.

On Saturday’s second round, he fired level par 73 with three birdies, 11 pars, with a bogey and double bogey.

Come the third and final round today Sunday, he rolled in one over par 74 when he dropped two, dropped one, level 13 and two birdies for the title.

He edged out former Nakuru captain and 2026 Kiambu Open winner John Kamais who settled in second after a shot at one over par 218, same as Tanzanian lady Madina Hussein and Golf park’s Josphat Rono.
