Chesamisi Boys and Kesogon Girls were crowned the volleyball champions at the concluded Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) championships that cocluded today at the Mpesa Foundation in Thika, Kiambu County.
Making their maiden appearance at the Nationals, Chesamisi from Bungoma, Western Region under the tutelage of Isaac Muresha edged out Chepsaita from Uasin Gishu County, Rift Valley region 3-1 in a hotly contested final.
Chesamisi who lost the regional title to Malava Boys, the later were disqualified for fielding ineligible player and they did not disappoint.
Chesamisi won in 25-23, 14-25, 25-22 and 25-18 as they booked a direct ticket for the East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association in Tanzania next week.
Matiliku Boys bagged the bronze medal after edging Masara 3-2 in a five-set thriller to book the final slot to the East Africa Games set for Morogoro, Tanzania.
Kesogon retained their girls’ title with 3-0 win over Soweto in 25-13, 25-10, 25-18.
St. Martha Mwitoti of Western defeated Kwanthanze 3-1 to take home the girls’ bronze medal.
