Former world 3,000m champion Hyvin Kiyeng and little known Dominic Kiptarus were the champions in Oslo, the 4th leg of IAAF Diamond League held today in Norway.
It was also great for world champion in 1,500m champion Elijah Manangoi to win the One Dream Mile while Nelly Jepkosgei came 4th in women’s 800m failing to take care of South African Caster Semenya.
Kiyeng, using her experience in water and barriers, ran shoulder to shoulder by Corbun Emman and former world junior 2,000m steeplechase champion Daisy Jepkemei but the former managed to outwit her rivals to win the race in 9:09.63.
The Global Sports Communication based runner in Kaptagat, won a back to back meetings following her win in last weekend’s win in Rome, Italy.
Corbun returned second (9:09.70) as Jepkemei completed the podium clocking 9:16.87 before 2014 Commonwealth Champion Purity Kirui came fourth timing 9:39.23.
Kiptrus, the only Kenyan in the 10,000m race won in 28:05.37. Also competing alone was Kenyan Nelly Jepkosgei who finished fourth in the championships clocking 1:58.96 behind Semenya (1:57.25), Francine Niyonsaba (1:58.37) and Habitam Alemu’s 1:58.58.
In the last race of the day, Commonwealth champion Manangoi used his finishinbg power to win the One Dream mile in 3:56.95 followed by Sadik Mikhou (3:57.10) and Ethiopian Taresa Tolosa completing the podium in 3:57.92.
