Achieng scores 7 as Junior Starlets hit South Sudan 16-0

Brenda Achieng scored seven goals when Kenya’s Junior Starlets hit South Sudan in their opening CECAFA Under 17 Women Championships at the KMC stadium in Tanzania.

In a one sided match, Kenya won 16-0 with Achieng scoring 7 with Lindey Weey, Elizabeth Alizeba, Beverline Awuor, and Mwanakombo Bakari scoring 2 each then Tabitha Wambui made it one with an ongoal.

The Midred Cheche side next faces Somalia on Monday before wrapping it off with a clash against hosts Tanzania on the 17th.

According to FIFA and regional tournament regulations, a football match cannot continue if either team has fewer than seven players available.

While the nature of the win was highly unusual, it serves as the perfect confidence booster for the Starlets
