The match between arch rivals AFC Leoprads and Gor Mahia has been moved from Afraha Stadium to Nyayo Stadium.
Dubbed Mashemeji Derby, was slated to take place on Sunday 7 May at the Nakuru based Afraha Stadium but due to unavoidable circumstances, the match has now been moved to the Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium with the date and Kick Off time of 3pm remaining the same.
The match had been moved from the Afraha Stadium after AFC Leopards wrote a letter to Kenyan Premier League (KPL) management citing security reasons.
In a bid to arrest the situation, KPL has now confirmed in a communique that the tie has been moved to the Nyayo Stadium after the two factions met and agreed to move the tie away from Afraha.
In a statement from KPL, confirmed that the Nyayo stadium will be available for the much hyped match.
The communiqué read in part “Following successful meeting between the Kenyan Premier League management and the management of Nyayo Stadium, the Kenyan Premier League would like to confirm that the facility owners have agreed to exceptionally allow the AFC Leopards SC-Gor Mahia FC match to be played at the venue on Sunday 7 May 2017, Kick Off time 3pm.”
