National junior champion Mutahi Kibugu and Agil Is Haq will lead other Kenyan top junior golfers in this year’s All Africa Junior Golf Championships to be held at Royal Dar Es Salaam Golf Club in Morocco.
The Casablanca based club will host among other Kenyan junior golfers that were named by Junior Golf Foundation (JGF). The team includes four boys- Daniel Kiragu from Muthaiga, Zubair Khan of Muthaiga, Kibugu (Muthaiga) and Nyali’s Haq and three girls namely Rose Naliaka of Naliaka Golf Academy, Kellie Gachaga from Dubai, Ashley Awour from the Naliaka Academy and the 13-year-old Channelle Wangare from Vet Lab Sports Club.
The Morocco bound team will be coached by JGF chairman Gitonga Kabera and the legendary Rose Naliaka of Naliaka Golf Academy, who is also the coach of the girls’ team.
A number of boys golfers have represented Kenya in the All Africa Championship while Is-Haq and Kibugu have also represented the country in the men’s senior team as well.
Besides Kabera and Naliaka, the team will also be accompanied by Kenya national golf coach John Van Liefland and a number of parents of the players.
The boys’ team finished sixth in the last edition held at Royal Harare last year, while the girls’ came third.
The team leaves for Casablanca on March 3 after receiving the national flag from President Uhuru Kenyatta on February 28. A total of 18 countries have confirmed for this year’s championship
