John Korir, the 2022 Los Angeles marathon champion has shifted his focus to compete at the Chicago marathon set for October.
Korir, who successfully defended his title said that he will be chasing to lower his time on the faster course on October 9th. He won last year in 2:12.48 and lowered his time to 2:09.08 with compatriot Edwin Kimutai finishing second in both 2021 and 2022.
The win kept the family legacy just like his elder brother Wesley Korir who won the race twice, in 2009 and 2010.
“For now my target is set for the Chicago marathon. I want to run well on American soil,” said Korir.
“I want to run 2:05 or 2:06 in Chicago. It has always been my dream and that dream will come to pass,” said Korir.
The Cherangany based runner finished the race in second position in 2019 and the 2020 event was postponed.
He made his maiden win in the race after dominating many half marathons across the world like second finish in Ottawa marathon in 2019 and second at the Kentucky race.
