AIU suspend Tabitha Gichia Wambui for anti-doping rule violations

Reigning Pozman marathon champion Tabitha Gichia Wambui has provisionally been suspended by Athletics Integrity Unity (AIU to violating anti-doping rules.

The former Gothenburg marathon champion was suspend with a Notice of Allegation Issued against her.

Analysis of the sample, carried out established an Adverse Analytical Finding (“AAF”) for Norandrosterone, a metabolite of Nandrolone, which is a prohibited substance under the World Antidoping Code (“WADC”) and the ADR which violates rule 2.1 and rule 2.2

The 38 year-old last participated in a major race at the 2019 PKO Poznań Half Marathon, where she took the top honors in a time of 1:09.09. She holds a personal best of 1:08.18 that she got at the 2018 Göteborgsvarvet half in Germany.

Wambui failed to make to the Kenyan team in 1500m race in 2015 after finishing in fourth place during the World Championships trials that were held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Nairobi
