Kenya’s welterweight boxer Elizabeth Akinyi was the last person from Hit Squad, the Kenyan boxing team to exit the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Akinyi, who lost the Mozambique’s Alcinda Panguana in the round of 16 was the 4th and last boxer to exit to assure that the all Kenyan boxers had exited the competition after losing all their contentions at the Kokugikan Arena.
Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) on their official twitter account @Kenyaboxing announced that all their players have exited the games.
“Our Tokyo2020 run comes to end in preliminaries stage after Elizabeth Akinyi lost to Mozambican Panguana Alcinda by RSC in their Women’s welterweight Round of 16 Preliminaries contest.” read the twit.
Heavyweight Elly Ajowi became the third Kenyan boxer to exit following a 5-0 loss to Cuban Julio La Cruz in the round of 16 bout.
The first to exit as Captain Nicholas Okoth who lost 3-2 to Mongolian Erdenebat Tsendbaatar in their round of 32 featherweight on Saturday then the second to exit was Christine Ongare who lost to Irish Magno of Philippines in a unanimous decision in the women’s flyweight division round of 32.
