Albert Korir leads Kenyans at Cape Town Marathon

Former Kass International marathon champion Albert Korir will lead a host of other top athletes in this weekend’s Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, the only IAAF Gold Label race status in Africa in South Africa.

Experienced Korir will be leading Kenyan contingent of former Hannover Marathon champion Jacob Chesari Korir, Kipsang Kipkemboi, Nicholas Rotich and Philemon Kacherian.

With defending champion Asefa Negewo from Ethiopia missing on the starting line-up, focus will be on the Kenyan runners.

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is part of the South Africa Marathon Championships events will also serve as an Olympic Qualifier this year for the country’s elite runners led by Stephen Mokoka.

Korir is the experienced side after winning 2017 Vienna Marathon while Kipkemoi won Sevilla Marathon in 2017.

The race dubbed “RUN4CHANGE” Legacy Program, the 2018 Peace torch will again be brought to the event by the Sri Chinmoy oneness-home PEACE Run, which has been carried since 1987, visited 155 countries and run more than 632,000 km (395,000 miles).
