Amar Shah emerged victorious in the boys between 13-14 years at the second leg of the Junior Golf Foundation US Kids Golf Spring Local Tour tournament played at the Limuru Country Club.
In a tournament that attracted 137 junior players, the boys dominated the event Shah scoring three over par 75 for the title when he levelled in all holes in the first nine except the par three 7th hole where he picked a bogey. In the second nine, he picked two consecutive birdies in holes 15 and 16. He was let down by four bogeys in the second nine for the overall score of three over.
Shah was a clear four shots ahead of second-placed Perter Gathogo who had a score of 7 over par 79. Gathogo beat 3rd placed Kahir Ladak by only one stroke. Kagame Handa and Nathan Masika tied for fourth with a score of nine over par 81, just one stroke behind Ladak in 3rd position.
The girls 11-12 years category, Chloe Chiuri emerged the winner with a score of seven over par 79. Ashley Gachora and Muthoni Kioi tied for second position with a score of eight over par 80, one shot behind the winner. Hope Oduor was not far behind as she finished third with a score of 10 over par 82, only one shot behind Gachora and Kioi. There was another tie in the fifth position, Zianna Khoda and Ashley Muyela finishing another one stroke behind Oduor.
The month of March will be busy for the Junior Golf Foundation with four more tournaments lined up. Three tournaments will be in the Spring Local Tour Series while one event will be the inter-schools tournament
