Kipyegon to battle Biles, Hassan, McLaughlin-Levrone, Sabalenka and Bonmati for Laureus Award

Three time Olympic 1,500m gold medalist Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon has been nominated to this year’s Laureus World Sports Award set for April 1st in Madrid, Spain.

Last year, Kipyegon won her third Olympic gold in Paris at 3:51.29 adding on her Tokyo in 2021 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

She will be up against seven-time Olympic gymnast champion Simone Biles from the USA, Netherlands and Olympic marathon champion Sifan Hassan, four-time Olympic champion and American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone , tennis superstar Aryanna Sabalenka from Belarus and Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmati.

Monmati won the title last year and Kipyegon will be willing to win the title after her compatriot Vivian Cheruiyot in 2012.
