Senate has summoned Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) Amina Mohammed to probe of her Ministry over alleged mismanagement of sports fund.
On Tuesday, the parliamentary committee in the Senate directed the CS to stop any audit on the Football Kenya Federation (KFK) pending the investigations by senators.
Deputy Speaker Margret Kamar on Tuesday ordered the CS to appear before the House Labour and Social Services committee on Thursday.
“The clerk is hereby directed to the CS inviting her to appear before the committee on Thursday, “she ruled.
The CS will explain to among others alleged mismanagement of Sports, Arts and Social Development Fund Board (SASDFB), status of stadia in the county and the probe she ordered into accounts of FKF.
“The CS should order an investigation to all the sports federations instead of singling out on one,” he said.
Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen alleged that sports fund was being used to money to support the Universal Health Care (UHC).
“I can confirm that the billions collected by the Sports Fund is being channeled towards supporting the UHC,” Murkomen claimed.
Makueni Senator Mutula Junior, said the CS should explain why she ordered the Football Kenya Federation books to be audited.
Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja said that it a shame that national teams will now have to travel to Rwanda to play matches because the country does not have a single stadia despite the billions allocated to the ministry every year.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei said FKF should not be disbanded for the ills which are solely caused by the ministry.
