Amina urge federations to embrace E-Sports

Sports cabinet secretary Amina Mohammed has urged Kenyan federations to embrace innovations especially in e-sports as the world gradually resume sporting activities.

Speaking during the launch of anti-doping e-learning program by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) today, said that with coronavirus taking toll in sporting world, said that the pandemic ushered in a new reality of e-sports.

Traditional sport leagues are currently relying on e-sport events to generate interest and excitement while in-person events are on hold,” Amina noted.

She added. “This abrupt change in how we experience and engage with sporting events has made one thing clear- e-sport is here to stay and will likely find a new set of fans because of the pandemic.”

she also lauded ADAK for anticipating the future by launching the e-learning program saying this innovation will advance the government’s agenda of enhancing the fight against doping in sport in the country.

Amina urged sports federations to ensure that their members are sensitised on this program and all other aspects of anti-doping.

I call upon stakeholders in the sports sector to support the Agency so that our athletes can continue bringing unblemished glory to the country through clean sport,” said Amina.
