Danny Chelogoi sunk two birdies to guide him win May Monthly Mug tournament played on par 71 Eldoret golf club on Saturday.
Playing handicap 15, Chelogoi recorded 66 nett to claim the title with 81 gross as golf slowly resumes.
He had mixed results in the first nine he bogeyed in the opening hole par 5, recovered with a par in the second par 3 dropped one in third par 4, sunk deep with a triple bogey in the 4th par 4. He dropped one in 5 and 6, a par in the 7th and 8th and ended well with a birdie in the 9th to close the inward nine with 5 over par 41.
In the outward nine, he started on a bad note with double bogey on 10th par 4, dropped one in the 11th par 3, dropped two in 12th and 13th par 4 and 5, with a big relief with a birdie in 14th par 4 and ended with pars in 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th pars 4, 3, 4 and 5 respectively.
Ajay Shah defeated former captain James Waweru on count back after playing 68 nett after playing gross of 89 and 78 on handicap 21 and 10 respectively for second and third positions as Amos Butit came in 4th with 69 nett.
Long hitter and Eldoret’s top golfer Aron Kitur was the lowest gross winner with 70 nett after playing 74 gross as the lowest handicap holder at the club. Kitur edged out James Chirchir on count back for 5th and 6th positions.
