Asumwa progress as Okutoyi to take on Shetty at W15 Tennis tournament

Kenyan Roselinda Asumwa was the first Kenyan to qualify into the second round of the ongoing W15 Nairobi World Tennis Tour in day one.

The twin sister to Wimbledon Double junior champion Angella Okutoyi, Asumwa defeated Australian Nessa Pratt at the Karen golf club court in 6-4 and 6-2 at the Karen Golf club court.

The eight year old had earned a wildcard to the main draw against 26 year old Pratt as she will be taking on winner between Sharmada Balu from India and Kenyan Katarina Karanja who will play tomorrow.

Other Kenyans Stacy Yego lost to 6-0 and 6-0 to Italian Linda Salvin while Mary Wachira and Claire Muthoni were eliminated in the singles qualifying draw.

Okutoyi will start her campaign against Indian Sharanya Shetty tomorrow.
