2015 world Javelin champion Julius Yego will join a host of other world athletes in this year’s third edition of Athletix Grand Prix meeting in South Africa next month.
Yego, who is the 2016 Olympic Games silver medalist in Rio De Janeiro, was named in a press release that was confirmed on today.
The Commonwealth bound athletes was named by the Athletics South Africa was added to the growing list of international superstars for the new series that aims at invigorating track and field in the country.
The reigning Commonwealth champion popularly called The ‘You Tube Man’ will be action at the third and final Athletix Grand Prix Meeting that will take place at the Dal Josaphat Stadium in Paarl on Thursday, March 22.
“We are used to competing at big Meetings in Europe, the States and Asia so when my agent (Jukka Härkönen) informed me of the Meeting in Paarl, I immediately jumped at the chance. To be able to compete in South Africa, on the African continent, is important to me as it helps in growing our sport,” said Yego.
