Thembinkosi Lorch scored a late goal to give South Africa’s Bafana Bafana a deserved win against Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosts Egypt to sail into the cup quarterfinals.
The 85th minute goal by Lorch was the greatest for South Africa on counterattack after receiving the ball from Lebo Mothiba and beat goalkeeper Mohamed Elshenawy.
After struggling in group stages, the coach Stuart Baxter coached side finished 3rd in pool B and will now meet Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the best eight after eliminating defending champions Cameroon.
Egypt beat Uganda 2-0 to complete Group A with a 100 percent record, five goals without conceding a goal.
