Kenya’s Elisha Barno won his second Los Angeles marathon title ran today in United States of America while former world cross country junior bronze medalist Cynthia Jerop won silver.
Barno, who won the race in 2017 returned the course that saw defending champion Weldon Kirui finishing in 5th place timing 2:13.24 as Milton Rotich came in 4th stopping the timer in 2:12.42
He won the race timing 2:11.45 ahead of another Kenyan John Korir in 2:11.52 before Juan Barrios completed the podium in 2:11.59
Jerop, who was competing in her third marathon finsished second behind Askale Merachi.
The reigning Kass marathon champion clocked 2:25.54 while Merachi won in 2:24.11 before Lucy Karimi from Kenya completed the podium cloaking 2:26.15.
Jerop, the Bomet County half marathon winner said the course was tough beyond her expectations.
“The course was tough. I never expected such but I did my best I could,” said the Hanover Half marathon champion.
Olha Skrypak was 4th in 2:30.33 as another Kenyan Jane Kibii was 5th overall in 2:32.12.
