Beldine Odemba has resigned as Harambee Starlets, the national women’s soccer team head coach ahead of CECAFA Women Challenge Cup set for next Saturday in Tanzania.
Odemba, who took over the reins of the national duties two years ago resigned yesterday after losing 5-1 to Morocco during an international friendly match, which was part of the preparations for the AFCON Women qualifiers.
Her resignation is said to have caught FKF officials off guard. With the CECAFA Women’s Championship set to kick off on June 12 in Dar es Salaam, the federation is now in a race against time to assemble a new technical bench.
The Starlets are scheduled to open their CECAFA campaign on Saturday, June 14, against Burundi. They will then face Uganda on Tuesday, June 17, South Sudan on Thursday, June 19, and wrap up their group-stage matches with a clash against hosts Tanzania on Saturday, June 21
