Bernard Koyyoko lost only one game to take day one lead at the Scrabble Kenya championships in Murang’a today.
Koyyoko won ten out of 11 games ahead of tomorrow’s final round as part of the World Warriors qualifying rounds for the Africa Scrabble Championships that will be staged in Freetown, Sierra Leone come September.
He started off with a win against Kipruto Tarus, Chris Okioma, Stanley Njoroge, Gitonga Nderitu, Allan Oyende, Nick Okioma, Patrick Litunya, Francis wachira, David Kimani before losing to Muema Muumbi in game ten but recovered well for the victory against Martins Mutahi.
Grand Master Oyende took the second position while East, Central and Southern Africa (ECASA) champion Nderitu completed the podium.
