Bhavesh Gohil was elected last month as the new Cricket Kenya chairman following the successful elections held at the Ruaraka Sports Club, Nairobi.
The April 19th 2026 elections handed Gohil a four year term after a long court battles and will be assisted by Perlyne Omamo where the elections attracted 57 delegates drawn from 19 compliant county associations.
Two days to the elections, the High Court sitting in Nairobi temporarily halted the elections, but the case was struck out on April 17 by Justice Roselyn Aburili, who cited non-disclosure of similar petitions filed in other courts, ultimately clearing the path for a smooth vote.
Coming from Nairobi Gymkhana Cricket Club, Gohil garnered 38 votes, by edging out former national team captain Tom Tikolo, who managed 18 votes for the chairman’s positions.
Gohil assistant chairman Omamo, who also played for Kenya and women’s national team captain, was elected unopposed as vice chairperson when Kalpesh Solanki was barred from contesting.
Treasuer’s position went to Alfred Njuguna Njoroge, who managed to amass 40 votes against 17 for Chidambaran Subramanian.
Damian Omonywa was elected the Director of County Associations after securing 37 votes, beating Vidya Chandrasekhar.
Charity Wambui defeated Sarah Kemunto Mayaka for the Director of Women Cricket with 31 against 24 votes.
