On his X platform, Odhiambo wrote: “As I mark my 30th birthday I’d also like to announce my retirement from Rugby. I thank you all for your support over the 11 years of my career and excited to see what the future holds. Billy ‘The Kid’ Odhiambo out.”
Odhiambo became the fourth Kenyan to reach 100 tries in Kenya’s history as Shujaa narrowly overcame favorites England 19-14 at the Los Angeles Sevens, United States two years ago.
Siblings Collins Injera and Humphrey Kayange as well as Willy Ambaka are the three players to hit the over 100 tries for the national team.
Injera holds the second place for the number of tries scored in the World Rugby Sevens Series with 271 while Kayange and Ambaka boast 159 and 131 tries respectively.
