Top amateur golfers led by Golfer of the Year (Goty) 2016 champion Kenneth Bollo and Goty runner Jeff Kubwa will lead other amateur golfers for Saturday’s Sigona Bowl.
Sigona Bowl, which will be staged at Sigona Golf Club is the opening meeting of the 17 meetings of Goty 2017 that concludes in December this year.
The Sigona Bowl champion Bollo said his aim is to defend his title he won last year, which was an opener for him and went ahead to win the overall Goty title after winning six meetings across the country.

“Being a defending champion, you face a lot of competition and top amateur golfers will be making their way there and prove that they are able to lift the title. I started by winning the opening meeting that was good luck for me that is why I went ahead to win the overall title,” said Royal Club’s golfer as he puts final touches ahead of Saturday show.
He confirmed that he has what it takes to defend his title and go ahead to defend the Goty title too.
Kubwa on the other side promised a hard game as he plans to join professional club.
He finished second in last year but he will not play the whole season as he plans to become professional in the next four months.
“I will play half season because I will be turning Pro next. First, I have to play Kenya Open, then move to South Africa for more golfing skills before coming back to turn pro,” assured Kubwa.
He added that he has what it takes to turn pro. But before heading to South Africa, he will play for his Muthaiga Golf Club during the Tana Hill golf which is an inter-clubs tournament extravaganza.
“After am through with Tana Hill tournament I will try my best to make Kenyan team for Zone Six event before heading to South Africa to sharpen my skills,” said Kubwa.
Former Kenya captain Robinson Owiti will be in Sigona to try his luck as well as Railway Club’s Alfred Nandwa, Edwin Mudanyi among others
