Reigning Chicago marathon champion Brigid Kosgei won the Houston Half marathon with a course record held today in USA.
After she was named in the London marathon team, the former Honolulu Marathon champion champion broke the course record previously held by Mary Wacera of 66:29 when she clocked 65:49.
He defeated her countrymate Fancy Chemutai who finished second timing 66:47 as Ethiopia’s Ruti Aga settled for third position in 66:55.
Former world half marathon silver medalist Bedan Karoki finished third behind winners Shura Kitata (60:10) ahead of his compatriot Jemal Yimer as Karoki sealed the podium three in 60:16.
Kosgei, fresh from winning the San Silvestre Vallecana 10km road race in Madrid, was using the race as part of her preparation for the London Marathon in April.
