Bungoma Queens head coach Godfrey Mabonga is optimistic that they will beat Vihiga Queens during Sunday’s semi-final clash of the FKF Cup at the Mumias Sports Complex.
Mabonga said that his side has been getting stronger due to the intense training for the match against multiple Kenya Women Premier League champions.
He added that it will not be an easy encounter, but they are confident of defeating Vihiga, who have been the finalists two times, losing to Ulinzi Starlets, who have bowed out of title defence for the fourth time.
The team’s captain Dorren Ouma and his teammate Ruth Kurgat have insisted that they must fight for this title until the final and are not afraid of the opponent due to his football history in the country.
To reach semi-final, Vihiga stunned Eldoret Falcons 4-1 on post-match penalties after a goalless draw while Bungoma were 3-0 winners against Trinity Starlets.
In other semifinal, Police Bullets fresh from being crowned Kenya women Premier League champions will be targeting a double.
Police will be taking on Kibera Soccer Women at the Dandora Stadium on Sunday.
To reach the last four, Police gunned down Zetech Sparks 3-0 while Kibera Soccer Women edged out defending champions 3-4 on post-match penalties after settling for a goalless draw.
