CECAFA Senior challenge: Isaac Kipyegon, Nicholas Kipkirui toreplace injured Harun Shakava

Isaac Kipyegon and Nicholas Kipkirui have been called by Harambee Stars assistant coach Stanley Okumbi to replace the injured Harun Shakava ahead of Council For East and central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Senior challenge to kick off on Saturday.

The duo coming from Zoo Kericho will fit in Shakava’s shoe.  The Gor Mahia defender is sidelined with a groin injury and will thus play no part in the tournament.

According to Football Kenya Federation, Shakava picked an injury which rules him out of the tourney. Shakava was in the initial provisional squad named a few days ago but due to the knee injury, he has been given time to recover.

Okumbi said: “I understand Shakava will be out of Cecafa this year but I can’t talk much on that. As you know I am now the deputy coach hence I am not in a position to give full details about him Okumbi,” said.

The federation announced the absence of the lanky defender on their official website even as the team ups its preparations for the looming assignment.
