It was a good start for Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) champion General Service Unit (GSU) and Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) who registered wins at the KVF national play-offs at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.
GSU struggled to beat Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in the first men’s match. With the dockers taking the opening set at 25-18, GSU came from behind to win three successful sets of 25-23, 23-23 and 25-22 to win 3-1 ahead of tomorrow’s match against Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
In the second men’s match, it was a hard nut to crack as former champions Prison Kenya lost 2-3 to KDF.
KDF won the opening two sets in 25-22 and 27-25 but faourites Prison warders reenergized to win the third and fourth sets to set for the final set which KDF won in 15-12.
GSU now lead the standings with three points, Kenya Defence Forces is second with two, Prisons Kenya third with one while KPA are bottom without a point.
In women category, it was an easy win for former champions Prison Kenya who defeated Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in straight sets of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-20 as champions KPC won against debutants Bungoma County 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-17).
