Champions Kabras Sugar will be facing off with former champions KCB Rugby at the Kenya Cup final set for May 9th at the ASK Showground in Kakamega County following their victories in today’s semifinal matches.
For the 5th time in a row, the ‘Forest’ will host the final after finishing the league on top. This comes after hosting the 2018/19, 2022/23, 2023/24, and 2024/25 seasons. Kabras winning the last three in a row.
The holders Kabras defeated Kenyatta University side Blak Blad 48-12 to seal the final bath while KCB demolished Nondescrips 52-07.
Making their maiden appearance at the semifinal match, Blad failed to dominate against their hosts Kabras at the kakamega ASK Showground as Kabras reached the final for the 11th time in a row.
Despite starting off in making the first try, Blad failed to hold onto the hosts. Blad’s Daniel Oyoo converted from the penalty for 3-0 lead but Kabras’ Eugene Sifuna converted his try for 7-3 lead then Oyoo added another penalty for 7-6.
Kabras’ George Nyambua piled pressure and touched down on unconverted try for 12-6 as John Kubu converted Ephraim Oduor’s try for 19-6 lead as Walter Okoth touched down again with Kubu adding the extras for 26-6 for Kabras into break.
On resumption Oduor scored the second try converted by Kubu for 33-6 then Hillary Odhiambo converted Eric Cantona’s try for 38-6.
In Ruaraka, KCB humiliated Nondescripts 52-07.
